It is not surprising that so many Facebook accounts get cracked into and the data used for evil purposes. The users need to wake up and pay more attention to security. I have a very complex password on my site and everyone on Facebook or Friendface or whatever site you use should have a good complex password. Even if you write a short sentence with a couple of words and replace a few letters with numbers that can be strong. Having capital letters in the password makes it much stronger, and if you use characters like $%^&*#@!)( in the password, then you get some real strength out of it. The social networking websites like Facebook should enforce a minimum password length and password complexity to protect people. That way there would not be so many people losing their private data, although the FireSheep addon for Firefox does allow you to sniff a public access WIFI network like Starbucks and McDonalds restaurants. That addon allows you to access someones Facebook account and potentially take it over and do evil things with it. The Firesheep addon only works if network is a unsecured network like an open WIFI access point and not on your WPA2/PSK home network that will have a very strong passkey with the aforementioned strong password.
But that is something to keep in mind if you are using a public access network, that your data could be snooped on and stolen by some unscrupulous person with a Windows laptop and the Firesheep plugin. That allows for some fun snooping for the white hat person, but also fun for the black hat cracker. Remember, a hacker is someone who modifies and experiments with programs and computers like I do and a cracker is a person who breaks into other computers and does harm if they are a malicious computer user bent upon causing harm to you or stealing your files. This could be used for identity theft and would be very bad if they got access to your computer files. That is why computer security is very important in this modern age.
