The WWW turns 20 years old today. The project that started with one web page has grown to countless websites and countless files hosted on web servers all around the world. Nowadays with China sealing themselves off and creating their own separate Internet with their own content to protect the people from the horrible influence of Western Internet content, their is a huge digital divide forming on the formerly open Internet.
This is the future of our Internet as well with the current debate about Internet censorship to protect people from pornography. But they just want to censor the web and restrict free speech instead. The Internet, originally constructed to be very reliable and to survive a war, it interprets censorship as damage and routes around it, hopefully sense will prevail and the Internet censorship bill will not pass through the Senate. The first web browser was the NCSA Mosaic browser that was released in 1993. This was available on PC`s and Apple Macintosh computers.
Happy Birthday x3 WWW!
