Friends, parties, social experiences, sexual experiences with women my age, all the things a normal, developing brain needs. I wasted all 4 years of high school and college hiding from everyone on my computer playing video games, now my chances are gone. People my age are getting married, I have no outlets to even meet women or make friends. My life is over, I wasted it. Every day is the same, I work, come home and rot. I wasted my life.

Got an internship offer for just under $50k, no benefits or bonuses or anything, at-will employment, non-compete, typical baloney. Requires security clearance (I wonder if I can put that on my resume.)

some context: I'm near an East Coast major metropolitan area. Finishing my compsci degree, have a sub 2.5 gpa, and don't have any previous experience, but do have a few good projects I can put. Dropped out but re-enrolling (or trying to) with only a few courses left I need to take. The company is aware of this, and are ok with it.

Seems like the normal rate around me is $65k (just from searching "software internship"). The position is less software engineering and more technical I.T. (programming hardware, integrating various tools into hardware, making scripts and documentation, stuff I'm not really interested in but would rather be doing than what I'm doing now).

It looks like a good deal, but I haven't shopped around with my newer resume, only this place. Is it acceptable to ask them to extend the time I have to answer, or will they just move on to another candidate (considering my resume doesn't give much confidence)?

It also states in the contract that my position is at-will, and that I or my employer can terminate our contract for any or no reason. Is it bad to put in two-weeks after a month or two if I find another internship that's more relevant to what I want to do? Does it send a bad signal to recruiters to keep applying for internships (to practice and look for more relevant positions) while interning at another company? Should I wait a few months? I'm pretty impatient.

how can the unix philosophy be applied to graphical software

hello /g/. so I quite like the idea of the unix philosophy of writing small programs that solve one problem and using text as an interface to communicate between them and perform complicated tasks.
I find this approach pretty pleasant when performing any tasks that deal with text.

I understand that unix was developed during a time when computers were not available to everyone, they were limited to a few very well educated people who knew how to program. it was normal for people to throw together small little programs to solve a problem then discard them afterwards or keep them in their toolbox for potential use later. computers were mostly used to do academic computational work and mostly dealt with text as input and output.

but I fail to see how this philosophy could be implemented with software that doesn't deal with text. this could be graphical software that deals with images and videos, or software that deals with audio or any other form of binary data.
and what about GUI programs (TUI isn't any different from GUI in this regard, it's just a GUI for non graphical systems)
there are a few examples of good unixy GUI tools. like dmenu for example. but dmenu still deals with text only.
I can't tell how that might work for something like gimp, and how would these small GUI programs communicate with each other.
you can probably build the components of something like gimp as separate programs. separate view picker, layer manager, image viewer, effects, brush selector etc... but how would such small programs work together and communicated.

any ideas?

sorry for the typos

The legendary Japanese mathematician Shinichi Mochizuki, famous for inventing the Inter-Universal Teichmüller Theory (see https://www.kurims.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~motizuki/Panoramic%20Overview%20of%20Inter-universal%20Teichmuller%20Theory.pdf ) and proving the abc conjecture with it, in a recent report (see https://www.kurims.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~motizuki/Report%20on%20a%20certain%20series%20of%20preprints%20(2024-03.) pdf), expressed his fear of the use of AI in research mathematics, stating that because LLMs can do nothing more than produce sentences via "mechanically searched contextual concatenations [...] devoid of any human understanding", its rise in use could significantly slow down mathematical research.

The iPad Pro oled is coming in May or be announced during the wwdc24 in June
It will have an oled panel and the m3 chip
It will be the best gaming tablet and an ultra portable device
The thing i don’t like is that it doesnt have a lite version of macOS and i think its by choice because it will cannibalize into MacBook Air sales
I want it for mobile gaming and media like Family Guy and movies
What do you guys think about it?

Number of images: 1. Posted by: Anonymous.

was 2005 to 2012 the golden age?
64-bit pushes on right about 2012 and 32-bits is abandoned so "golden age" obviously cant be past 2012

32-bit windows programming began in 1995 ontop of win95 but truly it took a different tide on about 2005 when non commercial programmers were on fire

thousands of windows enthusiasts (winxp was so good its not a wonder why they are enthusiastic about it) made thousands of non commercial or at least very cheap programs for windows xp

such an amount of programs has not been seen ever since, win7 did not have that many but of course some programs that started in winxp were continued on win7 era, some still continue, now on win10

especially Germany produced many coders

these men did their stuff with Visual Studio which is Microsofts own programming environment but also with Delphi which is as non-microsoft as it gets while still being 100% win32 compatible

delphi was the best of the best but due to reasons the delphi era wasnt the same as Visual Studio era and also it wasnt as popular amongst programmers so only very elite programmers did something with Delphi but it was glorious what they did

Delphi: highest amount of programs maybe in 2000 to 2004

Visual Studio (first time becomes popular maybe in 2004)
Highest amount of software made with it was likely inbetween 2005 to 2012

I just ran a brief FurMark + CPU burner test and my total system TDP spiked to more than 420W. It is powered by dual 280W bricks. Both the CPU and GPU are within safe temps, as specified by the manufacturer, but it is obviously better to keep them south of 60c if you can help it.

I can't imagine how quickly the laptop would degrade if both the CPU and GPU were going full tilt often. Still, having the TDP fluctuate like mad can't be good.

So, I've accidentally reached a point where I have 5,000 videos in my Youtube Watch Later playlist.
This seems to be a limit and YT won't allow me to add to it.
I've already deleted 'watched' vids but that got rid of nearly none of them. I'd like to use the list again, but can't sit here and delete five thousand fucking videos.

What are my options? Why isn't there a fucking clear all option?

Facebook is now overrun with images generated by AI. Just now it has a tendency to promote "Shrimp Jesus"

https://www.mikrobitti.fi/uutiset/varoita-mummoasi-katkarapujeesuksesta-tekoalyn-generoima-taide-keraa-tykkayksia-facebookissa-ja-saattaa-olla-vaaraksi/dfceaae5-cde0-4682-87fc-3adde99f9747

There are other Jesus's too: one was made from toxic seahorses.

All of the pictures got lot of likes.

In total a page that collects thes epictures together has already generated a hundred million reactions to the images.

FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
https://github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
HWID2 mimics a valid installation to generate a permanent legitimate license.

>Which version should I install?
W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
-10 yrs support, EoL 2032
-5 yrs on non-IoT LTSC
-No feature updates
-Comes with Win32 system utils
-Binary identical to Enterprise except no MS Store and no bloat apps
-If you need MS Store run this in cmd: wsreset -i
-Basically Windows: Classic 9x/XP/7 Edition, 10 years support and you decide when you want to update/upgrade

W10/W11 Home/Pro/Edu/Ent
-Dont install
-1.5-2 yrs support
-Constant forced updates
-Preinstalled bloatware apps (games, music, news, weather, people, onedrive, ads in start menu, etc)
*W11 specific
*Massive UI usability downgrades
*Taskbar removed features and options
*File explorer rewritten w/ reduced performance
*Has new CPU scheduler to support 12th+ gen Intel E-cores (its only redeeming feature)

>Is there a good version of W11?
No, 11 IoT LTSC *might* be good when released 24H2.

>How do I activate Office?

or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save as MSOffice file formats.

I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding one. There's a bunch of good ones for Android (like picrel) but all the desktop ones are single-line trash (default Windows one, both old and new, Qalculate, SpeedCruncch, Python interpreter, etc). I just want to write mathematical expressions naturally man, how hard can a calculator like that be to make?
