There is a nice 64-bit engine that can be used with Shadow of Chernobyl. This is the OGSR engine, this is what New Arsenal 6 uses for its Stalker mod. This is quite stable and looks very good indeed. It gives the old Shadow of Chernobyl game nice sunshafts and shadows. It really gives it a lick of paint.

Download the release here: https://github.com/OGSR/OGSR-Engine/releases. Unzip the files into your Shadow of Chernobyl directory. Then run the bin_x64\xrEngine.exe file to enjoy a lovely 64-bit Shadow of Chernobyl experience. This does differ from the vanilla SoC experience. But this really is worth trying out. If you are using the Steam version, you need to add the -steam parameter otherwise it will not run. So, there is a way to breath more life into Shadow of Chernobyl. The original game has very flat lighting, this brings it up a notch with proper shadows and lighting effects, and depth of field when aiming at a target, but this can all be configured whenever you wish. It also has raindrops on your visor. That is a nice touch. It needs extra modding to make the gunplay like New Arsenal. Otherwise, it is fun.
These screenshots show what it looks like in-game. This really is stunning.

Hi, how can I add a steam parameter? I would like to play with steam overlay
You can right-click the app in Steam and in General options add parameters. This should work fine under Steam.
