Companies using virtualization to empower their business.

Companies and institutions using virtualization

There are many companies using virtualization. One is the University of Arkansas. This campus has facilitated new distance learning and resource sharing approaches by deploying virtual virtual systems on an IBM zEnterprise mainframe that may be used for student exercises. Another example is Transzap. This is an ePayment and data exchange service that allows customers to conduct business with each other in a more efficient manner. This uses an IBM System z mainframe computer. This uses less hardware and still allows the business to function. Credit Union Service Organisations. These companies realized that hosting their software on their own servers would be too costly; so they got together and purchased a central server that used virtualization to use many virtual systems to host virtual servers for each credit union on one powerful mainframe computer. Gartmore case study. The Gartmore asset manager headquartered in London required a way to reduce server costs. They decided to deploy a Windows Server 2008 server with the HyperV virtualization solution and Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008. This allowed an 85 percent reduction in server costs right away and a reduction in the server deployment time from two days to one hour. This is an obvious cost saving method. Using the cluster failover capability of Windows Server 2008, Gartmore can provide low-cost high availability for key production workloads. Heidelberg. Heidelberg is a manufacturer of sheet-fed offset printing press systems.

They deployed Microsoft Application Virtualization to deliver applications as services and manage personal computer environments throughout the company. This resulted in a 40 percent reduction in IT costs. This is an obvious cost saving.
