A new planet with a magnetic field was discovered 12 light-years away.

A new exoplanet was discovered recently, this planet is 12 light-years away. travelling at 60,000 kilometres per hour, it would take 1.892 billion hours, or 215855 average Gregorian years to reach this planet, or ≈ ( 0.000016 ≈ 1/63800 ) × age of the universe ( ≈ 13.8 Gyr ) so we are never going actually to see this planet. Still, it would be fun to make a movie about though. Such a long journey is not even possible, we can not design a spacecraft that would last that long. Even travelling at 0.12 times light speed, it would take 100 average Gregorian years to reach this planet, and that is a massive speed. So YZ Ceti is a bit too far away for us humans at the moment. But maybe in the future, we could develop some new technology to reach that planet in a realistic timeframe. What would the surface even look like? This is fascinating to think about. it might even be livable, but that depends on the distance from the planet to its star.

A desert planet far out in space.

The innermost planet, YZ Ceti b is very close to the star, the interactions of the planet’s magnetic field may be the cause of the radio emissions. Since the planet is far too hot for humanoid life, this must be the explanation. But this is fun to read about.
