4chan depicted in a TV show, and they get it so wrong.

This is how 4chan is depicted in a television show, each post has the same post numbers for god`s sake. They cannot even get this right. But that is how this works in television shows. She posts a comment and then gets a reply immediately, as if it is a Facebook comment thread. They always show things incorrectly in television and movies, the only two movie that got computing right are the Matrix Reloaded and TRON Legacy. Those movies had very accurate depictions of terminal usage. But this show is on the lower end of the scale. This is on the same level as the TV series Numb3rs That showed someone removing a SIM card from a mobile telephone and they were worried about losing data, so they had to freeze it first. What the hell is that? That was in the episode “Frienemies” from 2008. Even though the SIM card (and other flash memory) is non-volatile and is designed to be moved between phones. But people who make shows just put this stuff in to make it dramatic or something.

That is how television works, it must be fast-paced so the audience does not get bored with the show halfway through. If it was a realistic investigation, it would take a long time and be very boring for the viewers. So, we must have flashy interfaces, and every button press must make a noise to keep people entertained. Not that it would be difficult with the sort of viewers that watch the execrable Numb3rs TV show. They are pretty unintelligent in the first place, so it would not be hard to keep them watching a simple TV show. 4chan was founded in 2003, and is responsible for creating a massive amount of Internet memes. As well as trolling. There was the brief time where the administrators put Facebook like buttons on each and every post. That was the funniest thing ever. So much butthurt ensued from the userbase. And yet, the site is still here and stronger than ever.

The 4chan website has an API, that can be used to create a script to view the posts without visiting the website. This is very useful. http://securitronlinux.com/arma3/diy.php. More websites should do something like this. Giving the users the opportunity to extend the functionality and create something for themselves.
