Fixing the low mic volume on Linux is quite a task, but I have found a good way to get the microphone volume higher to be more usable with Discord and YouTube streaming. I installed the Pulse Audio volume control utility and then I could increase the microphone volume using this utility.
(jcartwright@localhost) 192.168.1.5 ~ $ su
Password:
[root@localhost jcartwright]# dnf in pavucontrol
Then I could enjoy a better voice pickup using the microphone on Alma Linux.
This is a very easy way to fix the low microphone volume on any Linux distribution.
This is how to get information about the Pulse Audio config.
