Modern computer games do not have such care put into them as they did in the past, in 2024, you would think that people would put a lot of care into programming a multiplayer game, but this is not the case. Case in point, Arma Reforger, this has had two years of work put into it, but it is more laggy and crash-prone than ever, the developers have abandoned the game it seems, every update makes it worse, and the game engine does not even support underground areas under the ground that Unreal had in 1998 with the Unreal 1.0 engine. This allowed realistic caves and was a groundbreaking title at the time. If the Enfusion engine supported underground areas, you could implement stormwater drains and this would mean that approaches to an objective could be underground. That would be a lot of fun. Why is the net code so bad, GTA Online has constant road traffic and pedestrians and they all work just fine. Bohemia`s game can not handle any large amount of AI at all, the developers are useless.
GTA Online is an amazing example of a large city and pedestrian AI. The huge city has a lot of AI and this does not bog down the game much, in the video it seems to run very well. GTA even has sewer tunnels, if a modern Arma game could have something like the LA River with sewer tunnels this would be amazing. If a modern milsim game was made collaboratively, this would be awesome, but milsim is such a niche, most players just want quick matches and something like Battlefield would be OK for that, it would be better than any Bohemia game using an outdated game engine that runs like mud and does not have many features. I mean Reforger was released as a test game 1 year, 7 months, and 28 days ago and still has not been updated to 1.0 quality even though the version number is 1.0. That is a bad joke.
