Internet Explorer browser will be retired soon. This is a good thing.

The venerable Internet Explorer web browser will be retired soon. On Valentines Day 2023, a Microsoft Edge update will finally retire the desktop application. Microsoft Edge provides a better alternative anyway. It is generally considered a good thing that Internet Explorer (IE) is being retired. IE was first released in 1995 and has not been actively developed for several years. As a result, it is no longer able to support many modern web standards and technologies, and it is no longer as secure as more recent browsers. There are several newer and more advanced browsers available that offer better performance, support for modern web standards, and enhanced security features. It is recommended that users switch to one of these newer browsers, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. It is time to retire Internet Explorer, as it is an outdated browser that can no longer provide a good user experience or ensure the security of its users. It is advisable to switch to a more modern and secure browser. Outdated ActiveX plugins are not needed anymore in 2022, they are not used by any modern website at all.

Would it have been better if the old NCSA Mosiac browser was constantly updated instead of Internet Explorer? NCSA Mosaic was a pioneering web browser that was released in 1993 and played a significant role in popularizing the World Wide Web. However, it is difficult to say whether NCSA Mosaic would have been a better browser if it had been constantly updated until now, as this is purely speculative. There are several factors that would have influenced the success and capabilities of NCSA Mosaic if it had been continuously updated over the past several decades. For example, the development of new web standards and technologies, as well as changes in user expectations and preferences, would have had an impact on the direction and features of the browser. Additionally, the competitive landscape of the web browser market would have also played a role in the success of NCSA Mosaic. Netscape Navigator was a popular web browser that was released in 1994 and was one of the first widely used browsers on the World Wide Web. It was developed by Netscape Communications Corporation and was originally based on the NCSA Mosaic browser.

If Netscape had become the dominant browser instead of Firefox, the web browser market and the overall web experience might have been quite different. Netscape was a key player in the early development of the web and helped to establish many of the standards and technologies that are still in use today. However, the browser market is highly competitive, and the success of a particular browser can be influenced by a variety of factors, including performance, security, user experience, and market adoption. Will HTML ever be outdated on the World Wide Web? It is unlikely that HTML and JavaScript will be completely replaced as the primary technologies for building and delivering web content. HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and JavaScript are both integral parts of the modern web, and they are widely used by developers to create and deliver a wide range of online content and services. HTML is a markup language that is used to structure and format content on the web, while JavaScript is a programming language that is used to add interactivity and dynamic behavior to web pages. Together, these technologies enable developers to create a wide range of web-based applications and experiences, from simple static websites to complex web-based applications.

That being said, it is possible that new technologies and approaches may emerge that complement or enhance the capabilities of HTML and JavaScript. For example, there are already many technologies and frameworks available that make it easier for developers to build and deploy web-based applications, such as React, Angular, and Vue.js. These technologies often work in conjunction with HTML and JavaScript to provide additional features and functionality. I am not sure if the HTML language will be replaced by a compiled byte-code language. It is possible to write a CGI script in C and run this on a web server by outputting the HTTP headers in the top of the script. There is even a CGI library for ANSI C to output HTTP headers easily. This could be very useful if you wish to code a CGI script in C.
