IT fails are very funny these days. In the attached photo you can see a check-in kiosk, this is a tablet in a casing I believe, it has frozen. This is quite the fail is it not? IT staff these days cannot even keep a simple tablet working properly. This is such an annoying fail. But this means you do not need to use it then. Other failures like websites crashing under load are also very funny. The Census website in Australia crashed under load in 2016. But this time, in 2021, they are running load testing upon it and this will determine how the load balancing configuration will cope. They do have one right? I certainly hope so. Although, if you do it online in advance then you do not need to worry, this is too hard for some people. The Australian Government has hired ethical penetration testers to test out the website security and this should ensure it is fine for Census night. I do wonder if the security of the Services NSW app is even up to scratch? I am sure the data is not stored overseas and it is properly secured.
Data security is very important, especially in these days of outsourcing and overseas data storage, it is very important that our data is kept safe. Another very annoying fail is stupid products like folding screens on mobile devices. They only last a short time being folded and unfolded over and over many times a day. This is ridiculous. So many stupid products these days, sold to stupid people. The Australian government can not even properly manage a vaccine rollout, let alone proper website load balancing. This is leaving Australia behind the rest of the world in terms of opening back up again after lockdown. We are still in lockdown in September 2021. We see no end to this madness. Surely with the Internet and modern technology, we can manage this better than we presently are. But the security of user data must be paramount. This is most important. And before you ask, I could not fix the tablet, it was completely frozen.
