Sony Corporation has suffered another data breach, this one has stolen a lot of company data and this could be bad for the embattled company. There is a page on TOR that has the information and a screenshot is shown above. There is a TOX link to get more information on the data and pricing. The leaked files are Java source code to do with multimedia playback. They could be from Sony smart TV hardware, I am not sure. This is not good when data is not protected by higher quality security and it is stolen like this. This is due to lax security measures that allow an attacker to gain entry and steal the source code. What will be done about this? Will they pay up or will a full torrent of the data be released? Only time will tell. But the staff at Sony and other major companies need to lift their game and improve security now. It is very possible the leak is real, the multimedia source code in the sample seems legit, so the multimedia code on Sony hardware uses Java. Interesting.
Below is the file tree of the supposed leak.
