Linus Tech Tips took a challenge to install Linux as a daily driver and then failed to install Steam. But this is the fault of the distribution for sure. I mean installing an app like this should work just fine on a modern distribution. On Ubuntu, it works perfectly. But on Pop!_OS the dependencies might be messed up a little bit. This reminds me of using Ubuntu years ago, I wanted to uninstall OpenOffice and it wanted to uninstall all of Gnome as well. But these things can happen. But a properly configured distribution should work just fine. This should not be an issue. Even Linux Mint should work better than the Pop!_OS configuration. It must be the dependencies are quite convoluted and this interferes with the installation of various third-party packages. Although I wonder if the Nvidia driver installation works. I am not game to try though, Ubuntu 20.04 works just fine. Steam is available in the Pop!_OS store, but if that fails then there are problems. But if the user runs sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade
first, this should address most problems by updating all package repositories and installing any needed updates.
Games like Arma 3 can run on Linux with Proton, but the Battleeye anti-cheat system is not working year, but this is coming soon. I have heard that work is being done to get this working, which is good news. But if you install Ubuntu instead, you get better support and everything just works fine. I know Pop!_OS is built upon Ubuntu, but it is still a different distribution of it. You can even install Microsoft Edge on Ubuntu, and Windows Defender anti-virus.
