About 100,000 of their accounts used to manage company assets were all just compromised. An unknown volume of the user, customer, and proprietary information was stolen. All their systems are locked down and are under the excuse of “technical difficulties”. This is another in the list of attacks. Microsoft and Twitch were hacked and now Cisco, this is just another example of poor cyber security on the part of Cisco. This will never end either. They will keep attacking companies left right and centre. Who will be next in the firing line? Discord? Nintendo? Maybe the Microsoft Word vulnerability was to blame? But this resulted in the leak of a huge amount of data, this will end up in a torrent in no time. But when will the news sites learn of this hack? I guess it is not known about yet? Cyber security is getting worse and worse all of the time, this is due to many factors and this seems to be the new normal for the Internet in 2022. There were a few vulnerabilities in Cisco Routers that were addressed, who knows how many more there are? If the Microsoft Word vulnerability is fixed at least we can have some peace of mind.

Poor Cyber security is also fixable. As long as the upkeep of the organisation is maintained and the expected level of security is kept up to an expected standard laid out in the initial plans. That is very important, lapses in security are very harmful on the modern Internet. The use of a VPN with a very secure key is required when accessing infrastructure remotely, especially in 2022 when remote work is the norm for a lot of people.
