I having problems with Xvideo service thief in 2019. I cannot get it to download any video files anymore. But youtube-dl still works. Run sudo youtube-dl -U to update it, then it still works.
I downloaded a Youtube video easily with it.

Another solution is Clipgrab. This is a new application for downloading video from Youtube. This allows searching for videos in the app itself, and can easily download video from that site.

Install Clipgrab like this.

Then run it to download an online video. Paste a Vimeo video URL into the search bar to download that video. This does not work with Twitch, but works with Vimeo and Dailymotion. Just paste different video URL`s into the program to test if the site works. But this is a great application for working with many online video sharing websites. Another great way to save online videos that works after the website updates. So give this a go and replace the old non-functional applications. This also works with Liveleak video URL`s. Just a pity it cannot save Twitch videos. There is a solution that might work here.
