Digital TV on Linux really works well.

Using Digital TV on Linux is possible, but it depends on the adapter whether it will work or not. I had a Compro DVB T-300 digital TV card in my old PC. And the digital TV support will only work on Windows, I have to use a USB device to watch TV to watch TV on Linux now. Here is a page I have found describing how to keep your Gentoo system updated, and it looks pretty painless too, with just a couple of simple commands to remember to update your installed packages and install security updates. Which is very important these days with many crackers and malware writers even targeting Linux these days. But that screensaver was removed promptly when it was found by a user to contain a malicious script. The script was aiding in a DDoS attack against a server that was serving out exploits for Massively Multiplayer Online Games like World of Warcraft. Sure you should take down sites like that that are serving out malware, but not by slipping malware into Linux packages. You should always keep to the main repositories for your packages installation sessions.

wish someone would bring an open source Nvidia driver to the Linux operating system. I hate having to use a binary installer you have to download and run to install the driver. I know it is not hard to install as long as you have the kernel headers installed, but I want a better option. The open source Noveau driver that Fedora uses is supposed to be a replacement, but it is only an alpha status project yet as far as 3D acceleration is concerned but it is a step in the right direction. See the Wiki here: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/ they are moving ahead with more support for various graphics cards and the 3D support is not implemented yet but this is the future. If only there was a good open source flash driver for Linux that could match the speed of flash on Windows. The code in flash is optimised for Windows and is not suitable for Linux at all, but it gets the job done, until there is a better option. There is Lightspark, the open source flash plugin, but I have not got that to compile yet, there does not seem to be a Debian or rpm package available yet.

Ideally, there would be open source software for everything but the sad reality is that Nvidia will not release the source code for their drivers so we need to hack together a open source driver. But having an open source driver for Nvidia would be the best if I could just compile and install a new kernel and have the 3D Nvidia driver already built and available under /lib/modules and that would be the best thing. We need to get an open source flash working and then we can be free of Adobe and their crappy Shockwave flash plugin. Some websites still use that plugin, even though it is insecure and prone to problems. Why not use HTML 5 instead?
