Having a proper open-source Nvidia driver would be much better for Linux than a binary blob tainting the kernel. Sure, there is a part of the Nvidia kernel driver that is compiled against the kernel, but that is not the same as the whole thing being open-source.
Considering the disaster that was Windows 10, it is a good thing that we have Linux as an alternative to that OS. One very good use of Linux in a household is to run a Rasberry Pi used as a Pi-Hole. This is a DNS server to allow ad blocking. Very useful in a modern Local Area Network. Network-Wide ad blocking on all of your network-connected devices. I just wish you could block ads in the Youtube app, that does not seem to be possible in this day and age. The ads are in the same stream as the videos so you can not block them. At least we have Linux-powered gaming consoles like the Steam Deck. This runs SteamOS 3.3 and is very useful to play games on the move. Steam Deck specifications. Apparently, this one is running Arch Linux and has a very recent 5.13 kernel. Very cool. I wonder if you could run Gzdoom for Linux on Steam Deck. It could add a control preset to support the console. That would be great. This would not be too difficult to do. Then you could easily play Doom on the move.
