The brave web browser is a very secure alternative to Firefox and Chromium for the Linux platform. To install this browser on Ubuntu 18.04, use snap.

This browser has built-in ad and tracker blockers, good for more secure browsing and getting rid of annoying pop up adverts. The only thing I hate though are websites that have subscription layers that cover the website and force you into a form to pay for the content. I hate that. it is better to go elsewhere than pay to read the news. You can get the headlines in your terminal, this works fine and does not cost anything. The Brave browser also has built-in script blocking and HTTPS everywhere. This makes it very secure if you are accidentally directed to a suspicious site. Blocking scripts is a great way to maintain a secure web browser. There is also a feature that you can sign up for to earn cash whilst browsing with ads on and you can tip websites that you enjoy. But I am not sure about this. Maybe do more reading on it before you sign up.
Still, this is easier and faster than TOR and is still safe to use when browsing the Internet. No need to have HTTPS Everywhere and Noscript installed as they are built into the browser. So maybe have Firefox installed, but use the Brave browser as well, especially for dodgy websites. Sometimes there are websites you need to visit when you want to download an obscure game and then you need to use a dodgy Javascript downloader to get the file you need. That is what I really hate about the Internet. People are too stupid to create a torrent and a magnet link for their file. They use crap like Mega.co.nz or other websites with download limits that are exceeded and then you cannot download the file. That is aggravating.
