Arma Reforger is still not as reliable as Arma 3 in MP.

The new Arma game Reforger is still not very good online. It still gets kicks due to connection timeouts even though it should be better since it is a newer game. But it is still using an outdated engine. It uses parts of the RV4 and parts of the Enfusion engine, so you still can not make true underground areas in this game. But in Far Cry 3, you actually can have underground tunnels and caves. The map maker just needs to cut a hole in the terrain to join an underground tunnel. Even the old X-Ray engine used by Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl from 2007 will support underground tunnels. Just like in Stalker Lost Alpha. The underground area and the above-ground areas are all on one map. Any modern game needs something like this. But not an Arma game. You need to make a trench and cover it with rocks. That is not good for a supposedly AAA game in 2022.

This is why Reforger is not such a revolution after all… A military simulation game needs the ability to make underground bunkers for interesting gameplay.

Another feature that Arma needs that it does not have is the ability to walk around inside a moving vehicle. You can do this in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but not in Arma 3. And this is not good at all. It would be very immersive to be able to walk up to the back of the Chinook and then jump out to parachute drop with other players. But this has not been implemented. Such a shame. The vanilla Huron cannot be entered by just walking in as the model has no internal hitbox. You need to use the get-in option and go to a seat. A real shame.

yet another complaint is Reforger only uses 6-digit map coordinates. Real militaries use far more digits, this is to identify a 1-meter square grid reference on a map for artillery or bombing with modern laser-guided bombs.

A proper map coordinate would look like this: 56J MS 80443 25375. But Arma is not a realistic simulator, so this does not matter. But if it used 8 or 11-digit coordinates instead of 6 it would be very accurate.

Standard 1:50000 scale maps have 4-digit grids, and any more than that is on the human to add in (6 to 8 to 10 etc). While easy for anyone who has had some training in maps, it is a bit more difficult for others (especially if there were no in-game tutorials). It is possible that if BIS used a 4-digit grid coordinate then they would have to add in multiple letter coordinate zones (AA zone, AB zone ECT). by having a 6-digit coordinate system, they avoid it and keep it more accessible. Also then people would complain about how the letter coordinates were not realistic as they did not comply with real-world terrain data.

And as of Sept 28 2022, mass kicks are still happening with the Arma Reforger multiplayer, this is embarrassing in 2022 to have a game this unreliable be released in such a state.
