I have been playing around with old Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl builds. Build 1935 and build 2571. Firstly, I looked at build 2571. I cannot run this, but it is fun to look inside the game files and see what is inside. I used this utility to extract the game files.

Just put it into the xrCore build 2571 – Mar 16 2006\2006_03_15 folder and run it to extract all of the files. But it does not have much there.
Then I got the build 1935 version of Shadow of Chernobyl. This has music and artwork in the game files. I used this utility to extract the build 1935 gamedata.xp0 archive.

Uncompress this to a new folder, then place the gamedata.xp0 file there, and run this command to extract everything.

The build 1935 game data has some nice old mutant sounds, these do work if placed as a mod in the Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl 1.0006 build. So give this a try and see if you like it. The gamedata\sounds\ambient directory contains all of the build mutant sounds.
