AI will make artists obsolete. The newest GPT-3 AI system can generate images of very high quality, this will take over from the old system of paint and canvas and then digitising the resulting artwork. Now you can just generate an artwork using the AI system named Stable Diffusion. Stable Diffusion is an open-source diffusion model for generating images from textual descriptions. This may be installed on a Linux server and then run with textural descriptions of the desired artwork and it will be generated. This is amazing. There are amazing paintings and drawings that have already been generated using this AI system. It sometimes generates horrifying faces, but the technology will get better and better over time. As we get more and more powerful GPU hardware with greater amounts of VRAM, this will improve. It makes me wonder if you could train it to generate a comic book panel with text and images. This would automate the process of writing and drawing comic book pages. But generating paintings is where it truly shines, this is the future in a nutshell. Any painting you desire could be generated for you easily using simple AI and powerful enough hardware. Why pay an artist to paint an artwork?
The image above was created by an AI, it turned out very well indeed. And this is early days yet. The future of AI looks very bright indeed. What will it be capable of in ten years’ time I wonder? Will it be capable of generating a video file, or a movie that you wish to see? An action movie starring Bruce Lee and Vincent Price? Would that not be amazing? Creating artwork for video games could be automated, or at least creating the script of a movie with AI, even if you are not creating the movie with it. But the images created with this system are amazing especially beautiful fantasy artwork such as Sci-Fi artwork and drawings. it could even make a realistic photo of Emma Watson cooking a pizza and it looks very real. In the future, it could be used to make fake images of celebrities in compromising positions. This is not good, but stuff like that does happen. Hopefully, people will be able to spot this kind of deception and not be fooled by it. Hopefully anyway.
