Gnome Shell really is not too bad after all, but MATE still is comfy.

The overview mode in Gnome Shell. Very useful to switch between open windows, but a taskbar with buttons is better.

I really do like the new applications menu, this is pretty neat. Although a PC is not a tablet or a mobile and does not need a mobile interface on it. But at least it runs very fast and sleek, that is something I guess.

This application’s menu is fast and easy to scroll.

The MATE desktop, however, being based upon the older and better Gnome 2 desktop environment is very usable and it is very clear what everything does.

Now, this is a very usable Linux desktop.

Another very good Linux desktop is FVWM Crystal, this would be incredibly fast and usable. Even on an older PC, it would run very well.

FVWM Crystal is the best Window manager.

KDE 2.2 was the peak of Linux desktops. This is a shot of the KDE desktop in the movie The Social Network.

This is perfect. Why was this ruined and turned into the current Plasma desktop that is an abomination?
