The Google Images search by image is not working anymore. This isn’t very reassuring. The reason is that Getty Images complained to the European Commission last year, BBC reports. Getty Images sells photos online for a living, and the company accused Google of anti-competitive practices. Google’s image search feature made it easy for people to find Getty Images photos and download them without permission or license. With the view image button disabled, it’s not as easy to open that image and then save it to your computer. But this was very useful for finding an image’s source online and a bigger version of it. I hope there is some alternative to use, other than Yandex search. But it can be fixed. There are plugins for Firefox and Chrome to fix this issue. For Firefox, use this plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/search_by_image/. If you are using Google Chrome, give this plugin a try: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/search-by-image/cnojnbdhbhnkbcieeekonklommdnndci?hl=en. This still works in 2022—an easy way to fix this annoying issue. Users of the Opera browser may use this plugin. https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/search-by-image/. Very helpful. And you may also use Google lens on a mobile to search for an image and find its source. Maybe someone will create their own system for searching images and finding the source of the image in question.
Because it is aggravating when you get used to a feature in Google and then it is turned off on you. But it is easily fixed by addon creators. I am grateful to them for helping us out.
Another way is to navigate to the Google Images page: https://images.google.com/ and click the camera icon. Select the option to upload an image and then you may use Google Lens to search for an image.
