The Book of Boba Fett TV show has showcased an artificial ringworld habitat in space, this is a massive artificial structure in the shape of a huge wheel. But the ringworld in the episode is very small. The Ringworld is about one million miles (1.6 million km) wide and approximately the diameter of Earth’s orbit (which makes it about 584.3 million miles or 940.4 million km in circumference), encircling a sunlike star. It rotates to provide artificial gravity 99.2% as strong as Earth’s from centrifugal force., and it was made of a fictional material named “Scrith”, this is the only material strong enough to withstand the immense stresses on the structure as it rotates around the sun like a giant wheel. I do not think the walls on either side are tall enough to hold in the atmosphere, but otherwise, it is interesting to see this albeit not very original. They could have come up with something else, but no. As far as Larry Niven`s property goes, it has been used in the animated series of Star trek in one episode, this was the slaver weapon and stasis boxes shown in the TAS, Episode 1×14. But this was written by Larry Niven. It is a very interesting episode.
It is very interesting to come up with new ideas for a space habitat. Another idea was a giant flat disc rather like an LP record and people live on the surface, this is an Alderson disk. It would be quite different to living on Earth. It would be like perpetual sunset all the time with the sun shining from the middle of the disc and lighting with massive long shadows. Something like a megaring could also be built, but this would require a Type II civilization and we are far from that right now. With Tik Tok and Instagram, we are going downhill. But SpaceX is showing promise, I guess if they can build a rocket that does not explode. Even planetary engineering is beyond us at this point. But the future might be brighter, if we could only remove social media from existence, then we might reverse the brain drain. We do not want to live in the world of Idiocracy. That was a bleak dystopian film, with a happier ending though. But still depressing to watch. Humanity might evolve to a Type II civilization in 3000 years, we could possibly build a ringworld in 6000 years time. That is not long to wait.
