Some people do not understand how Linux works at all. I just tried what was shown in the webm above on my Ubuntu MATE machine and it works just fine. I was able to drag a file from the Caja file manager to the desktop and lo and behold it was copied. This is why Linux is not more widespread. There are shills out there that a working for Microsoft and are wanting more people to adopt Windows 10 instead. But Windows 10 is not the best operating system out there, it has things like transparent CMD terminals and the ability to install Kali Linux, but without the ability to use patched firmware and the proper Kali Linux kernel, it will not work properly as a penetration testing bed, you are better off using a live DVD of Kali Linux 2019 with a laptop and a WIFI dongle for cracking WIFI and other penetration testing tasks. I will concede though, that it needs a way to run an executable from the Caja file manager by right-clicking on it and clicking run as root, but this is a small thing in the overall picture.
In the MATE desktop, I can drag an application icon to the desktop to create a shortcut to easily access Google Earth. That is very useful. But there are some users who install Xampp to /opt and then cannot even find the executable to run it. There needs to be 5 minutes spent reading the README before installation. This would be very helpful. But using A LAMP stack instead is a better solution. Apache2 is a very mature web server, and combined with PHP and MySQL, it is very powerful. So there is that. And there is a lot of documentation on installing and setting up Apache. Some people only try for 10 minutes and then give up. Then they go on 4chan and post about how they failed to drag a file from Caja to the desktop in the Unity desktop environment. But I am sure it is just PEBCAK. This is very annoying though. Just do reading on the Internet, there is a lot of documentation out there to help you out.
