Saving your place in a movie when exiting MPV is very easy, this would be very useful when watching a long film and you need to exit the player and watch some more later.
Add this to the ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf file.
save-position-on-quit |
This will allow the player to resume playback when you restart playing a movie at a later time.
Another way is to use Shift-Q to exit the player, but the first method is the best, you just exit and the position is saved.
This is the output you get in STDOUT when this is working. This will tell you that the position is saved and you may just exit and come back to where you left off.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to share this.
When using the shift+q method, resume playback only works so long as you don’t turn your computer off (at least for me).
Is it the same with this method of yours? If yes do you know a workaround?
Thanks,
Flo
