Trinity KDE desktop still the best choice for the Linux user.

The KDE Linux desktop has gone back to retro greatness with the Trinity KDE desktop, this is a version of KDE 3 that is available for modern Linux distributions. This allows the use of classic themes. The KDE 2 and Keramik themes are available for the desktop to emulate a nice Linux look from 2008. This is very fast as well. Just install this desktop environment and then select Trinity desktop or TDE in your GDM login manager. The KDE 2.2 desktop environment had some nice themes as well, but the themes it had are not available for Trinity. That is the only shame. Nevertheless, it is still great. This is what Linux needed, instead of the ugly KDE 5 desktop that I hate. KDE trinity needs to introduce the themes from KDE 2.2, these would make it complete. This screenshot shows a missing theme that KDE 2.2.2 had. I am not sure if the Trinity desktop supports these themes, but it would be perfect.

The screenshot above shows the look of my Trinity environment. it is very nice and sleek. Better than KDE 5. Modern desktop environments are bloated and slow. Xfce 4 is another very good choice for the Linux desktop. It is fast and may be themed to look like Windows `95. The only other thing I want for Ubuntu is the CDE theme from UNIX. That would be very popular as well. There is a Debian variant out there with the CDE desktop, but it is outdated. Sparky Linux though does have CDE as well. There are instructions for installing it using a repository here. This is for Debian, so it might be possible to install CDE and create a nice Debian based distribution using CDE for the olde UNIX feel. That would be great to see. Some notes on the compilation of CDE on Debian 8.0: https://mike632t.wordpress.com/2015/09/09/compiling-cde-on-debian-8-0-jessie/. This could work on a newer version of Debian, but I am not sure. This is what it looks like once compiled though.
