Windows to include a new package manager system to install software.

A new package manager is available for Windows. This is just copying ideas from Ubuntu and Debian. This allows the installation of software from a repository and install it on your Windows 10 computer.

This works by running the winget install command to install a Windows package. Pity you can not run winget remove --purge edge-browser. But this is yet another addition to the already bloated Windows 10 installation. It would be good if they could fix all of the bugs and issues like Windows 10 rebooting without warning and the many issues caused by updates. But this is promising, this technology uses various techniques like Smartscreen to ensure only trusted software will make it on to the repository. This will keep users safe. But I wonder how it will handle updating and uninstalling software cleanly. I hope it works as well as apt does on Linux. The apt and dpkg utilities are very useful on Debian, I am not sure if a Windows solution will even compete. Typical users will make use of the Windows Store GUI instead, this is not going to see much use at all. At the moment, it does not handle dependencies for various packages, this is a simple thing, and I hope they can fix it.

It is an open issueopen issue on the Github and it should be fixed, but it is kind of a requirement to handle dependencies in any package manager, but Microsoft hire the lowest common denominator when it comes to programmers, so we will be waiting. Will they have a strong encryption system on signing packages to ensure that what you are installing is what it says it is? That is very important.
